Joliet Job Corps students help raise money for injured soldier

Eighteen students from Joliet Job Corps worked 90 hours collectively at a spaghetti fundraiser for U.S. Air Force Capt. Tony Simone and his family on Nov. 3 at the Cantigny VFW Post.
A photo of one of the students, Shuton Miller, appeared on Page 3 of the Herald News on Nov. 4 along with three other photos from the event.
Simone, a pilot, was severely injured in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan in June. Friends hosted a benefit to help pay for expenses associated with his extended medical stay in a hospital in Tampa, Fla., where his wife, Angela, of Joliet, has stayed at his side the past five months. Jolietians turned out in the hundreds for the dinner and Job Corps students worked hard to keep the lines flowing from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
