Eleven Joliet Job Corps students volunteered to help the downtown Joliet Public
Library prepare for a gigantic book sale on Feb. 11. Their work was well received
by the other adult volunteers who are part of Friends of Joliet Public Library
and host these sales to raise money.
“This is about the seventh or eighth time I’ve taken our students to volunteer
for the setup before the book sales,” said STARS Coordinator Jan Larsen. “Setup
is always on a Friday night, but students are excited to go because we get pizza
and pop and two free books from the sale. Our students helped carry in at least 70
boxes of books and arranged them by category. It’s a huge task and our team always
makes a significant dent in the work to be done.”
