Everyone likes to have something new to wear for Christmas.
So on Wednesday afternoon, Counselors Patricia Alberty and Debra Williams held “Holiday Threads and Treats.” It was a way for the female students to get something sharp to wear — and to get it for free.
Here’s how it worked: the Center’s staff donated a wide variety of dress and casual clothes to the project, and everything was displayed in the One Stop. The female students then went shopping while enjoying punch and cookies. Each student got a ticket, and a gray wool coat, a fur coat and a fancy pair of heels were raffled at the end of the event.
Although students and staff helped with the project, it really was Ms. Alberty’s idea.
“I wanted our girls to feel special. That is the Christmas gift,” she said.
