A funny thing happened at the Feb. 10 winter commencement at Joliet Job Corps.
Someone’s cellphone went off while commencement speaker and retired Judge Raymond Bolden was speaking.
He reached into his pocket, and pulled out his own ringing phone, which he immediately silenced.
“In my court, I would hold you in contempt for that,” said the honored speaker.
An account of that amusing moment, and how STARS Coordinator mixed up giving coats back to Bolden and Will County Executive Larry Walsh, both appeared the following Monday in a column in The Herald News, written by the STARS Coordinator, who was a newspaper reporter/editor for 30 years.
Hold the phone!
