First Midwest Bank Visits the Joliet Job Corps Center

The Grad 90 Students learned about money and banking this week from representatives of the First Midwest Bank.

Branch Manager Jen Coyne and Personal Banker Lynn Falasca taught them about checking accounts, savings accounts and dif-ferent types of transactions.

Ms. Coyne presented an informative and interactive lesson called “Bank On It” that introduced the students to personal banking. After covering the full spectrum of services, she focused on how to open and maintain a checking or savings account. She also went over the use of automatic teller machines, or ATMs, and debit cards.

The students had plenty of questions. Li

sa Bowman wanted to know how much First Midwest charges for using an automatic teller machine that is located at another bank. She was happy to learn that First Midwest is part of a large banking network that does not charge customers an additional fee for that type of transaction.

After the presentation, Personal Banker Lynn Falasca set up a booth in the cafeteria to give other students the opportunity to learn about banking services and to open their own accounts. Many of the students stopped by to hear about the bank’s services, and five of them opened new accounts.
