Congratulations, Marquell Denton

Joliet Job Corps Center student Marquell Denton has completed Cement Masonry and is moving on.

On Oct. 27, the Aurora, Illinois, native traveled to St. Paul, Minnesota, and the Hubert Humphrey Job Corps Center. Marquell plans to continue his Job Corps journey by taking Advanced Training.

Marquell is enrolled in the Transportation Communication Union program. It’s part of a multi-billion dollar industry in-cluding railroads, mass transit and airline companies. Open completion, he’ll enjoy a great entry-level salary, job security and opportunities for advancement.

While at the Joliet Center, Marquell obtained his Illinois Driver’s License and received his OSHA 10, Green Awareness and First Aid/CPR certifications. And he realized that he would need to acquire additional skills after completing Cement Masonry. Once he heard about the transportation program at Hubert Humphrey Job Corps, Marquell knew that was where he was headed.

The road to Advanced Training was not always easy, but Marquell lives by the mantra of Michael Jordan, the basketball hero of his childhood: “I can accept failure, but I can’t accept not trying again.” These words of wisdom kept him motivated while at the Joliet Center.

As Marquell prepared to leave Joliet, he said he really would miss the friends and staff members who encouraged him along the way.

We are all so proud to see Marquell traveling the road to success.
