It was time to vote this week.
Joliet Job Corps Center students began campaigning for positions in the Student Government Association during the second week of February. On April 5, the candidates delivered their election speeches before the entire student body.
The audience was eager to hear what each candidate might do if elected.
Cashay Harris is running for Treasurer, and she would like to enhance and expand the Structured Evening Programming. If elected,
she would organize different activities such as work out groups, soccer teams and outdoor events. She also talked about expanding the variety of treats that are served as hot snacks in the evening.
Derrick Jennings is running for sergeant at arms, and he discussed the possibility of promoting peer mediation sessions to help the students resolve conflicts.
All candidates did very well, and several recognized during their speeches the key staff members who assisted them throughout the election process. At 5 p.m., voting began in the cafeteria.
