The 12 Days of Christmas at the Joliet Job Corps Center

The holidays are here.

On Monday, the Social Development Department kicked off Christmas Around the World and the 12 Days of Christmas Celebration.

To begin the tree lighting ceremony, Ms. Claus, perhaps better known as student Elia Kernell, sang “Silent Night” in Japanese. Then the students sang Christmas songs and danced while waiting for the goodies that the Social Development staff and their group of “elves” had prepared for them.

As the students walked into the party, they received a raffle ticket. Then Social Development Director Alicia Grangent would call a number and distribute one of the prizes provided by Student Government Association.

Everyone enjoyed cider, hot chocolate, pinwheels, meatballs, pudding parfaits and slices of cake.

It was a great start to Christmas
