Leadership at the Joliet Job Corps Center

Joliet Job Corps Center students have been working diligently on their campaigns the Student Government Association and leadership roles in their dormitories.

They have been attending leadership training sessions led by Ms. Sorrells every Wednesday to prepare for the posts.

To run for SGA office, students must complete an Advanced Leadership class, maintain a 3.5 CSSR or higher, be on Center for at least 45 days and submit an application, among other requirements.

Once all the work was done, it was time to make choices. On Oct. 13, the candidates delivered their election speeches to the entire student body. The students were eager to hear what each candidate would bring to the center.

Several candidates promised to make improvements if elected. SGA Chief Justice candidate Leianna Sullivan wants to offer more activities for students after the training day.

Nandia Johnson is running for SGA President, and she promised to make improvements to the Case Management meetings.
