Students from the Jacksonville Job Corps Center volunteered through Hands On Jacksonville to participate in the MLK Fire Prevention and Disaster Preparedness Project. The students arrived at the Brentwood Housing Complex early Saturday Morning to assist children 6-12 years old in understanding what to do in case of a fire. Brentwood is a multi-family community with many children living in the community.
Volunteers were placed in classrooms to assist the young audience with disaster plans in case of an emergency or fire in their homes. The volunteers enjoyed interacting with the students as they shared their stories about how they would go about alerting their parents or an adult in the house if a fire occurred in their home.
