The Salvation Army is making sure needy children on the First Coast have a have a wonderful Christmas. Workers and volunteers have been collecting toys and clothes for 13,000 kids in Duval, St. Johns, Clay and Nassau Counties. The Salvation Army is helping infants-12 year olds. Students at the Jacksonville Job Corps Center separated toys by name and age, the toy shop is filled with dolls, board games and bikes.
The students worked over a two day period to assist in organizing, separating and placing toys in designated slots according to age. On Tuesday, December 13th fifteen students spent over 5 hours volunteering in the Toy Shop and on December 14th the on center Ladies of Excellence and Men of Distinction also spent 5 hours sorting and organizing toys.
The students were excited about bringing smiles and happiness to the deserving boys and girls who would not have toys or new clothes if it weren’t for the huge donations to the Toy Shop by local department and discount stores.
