Sheldon Clark came to Jacksonville Job Corps over 2 years ago with a 9th grade education. This young man arrived from the Island of the Bahamas because he wanted a better life for himself and his family. “I came to Job Corps because I couldn’t believe someone would help me get my high school diploma, a trade and help me go to college, states Sheldon. This has been a dream come true for me.
In a group discussion hosted by Coach Williams at the Jacksonville Job Corps Center Sheldon shared his story with his peers in order to encourage and inspire them to stay focused and reach their goals. The students included in the session were Frino Syverain, Jessie Jackson, Gabriel Davis, James Dixon, Maurice Jenkins, DeAngelo Johnson, Neker Ismeus, Moise Jimenez, Brandon Kennedy and Terell Jones.
On August 30th Sheldon graduated from Jacksonville Job Corps and was honored by his peers and the staff at Job Corps for his dedication to making a success of his opportunities. After completing his trade in HVAC Sheldon enrolled in the ACT program and in 2 months will receive his AA degree. Sheldon is working at the Urban League and has gotten his own apartment. He is respected by his peers and admired by the staff at Jacksonville Job Corps.
Sheldon is grateful for the opportunities provided to him through Job Corps and encourages his peers be thankful and make their time here count.
