On Thursday, April 5, 2012 students from the Jacksonville Job Corps Center volunteered at the City Rescue Mission. Students were tasked with serving over 200 homeless men and women as they streamed through for dinner.
In addition to serving the men and women who were residents and transients at the mission they also cleaned tables and greeted them as they came in. The City Rescue Mission serves nearly 280,000 meals and provides over 100,000 nights of shelter to the homeless in Northeast Florida. The mission was established by a group of Christian businessmen who a need to help alcoholics in Jacksonville. Their goal was of offer soup, soap and salvation.
In addition to volunteering at the mission students at the Jacksonville Job Corps are in the Work Base Learning Program. The Jacksonville Job Corps Center is a true partner with the City Rescue Mission.
