On June 11, 2011 thirteen students and the recreational supervisor Mr. Marvin Owens participated in the Multiple Sclerosis Clean up Day. The students were asked to help those afflicted with this debilitating disease. The students spent hours cleaning the interior and exterior of houses and made what was seriously clustered, disheveled, unorganized and neglected look new again.
Students cleaned the kitchen top to bottom and cleared brush and debris from the yard. The owners of the property were simply overwhelmed that the students would come out and do this for them, they said, “I can’t believe anyone cares enough to spend their time, energy and effort helping us.
Jacksonville Job Corps is proud of the following students for their willingness to reach out and be a blessing to people in need: Jesse Jackson, Leo Dennis, Charles Williams, Larisa Zepedia, Nyquicha Littles, Alysha Andolina, Sonja Wilson, Crystal Emery, Tenisha Fulton, Frino Sylverian, Mary Shay, Crann Jeudi and Jackey Jeudi.
These students were honored by representatives from the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation on June 24, 2011 during the center’s Awards Ceremony.
