(JACKSONVILLE, Florida) Members of the Jacksonville Job Corps Community Relations Council recently elected Faron Miles as the Center’s Community Relations Chair and the Interim Chair of the Industry Council. The councils are an integral part of the link between community and the career development of the students who attend the center.
Faron Miles is the center director of WorkSource in North Jacksonville and Baker County career centers. He began his career at WorkSource in 2000 as a customer service representative and quickly rose to the rank of his current position. Faron is responsible for managing the day-to- day operations of the career centers, including participating in community relations activities as they relate to the services available through WorkSource. Faron’s community service includes volunteering with the City of Jacksonville as a parking enforcement specialist, citing drivers who park illegally in parking reserved for people with disabilities. He has also spent time mentoring youth through Community in Schools and Take Stock in Children. For the past seven years, Faron has been a site coordinator with the RealSense Prosperity Campaign, assisting in free tax preparation for low to moderate income families. Faron holds a bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University in Workforce Education and Development and was the first workforce professional in the State to complete the Florida certified workforce professional accreditation.
Faron has been a long time supporter of the Jacksonville Job Corps Center and has served diligently as a member of the council. He is a participant in the center’s Work Base Learning Program. His support for the center has been unwavering. Recognizing his strong commitment and purpose for the organization Faron was recently elected as Chair for the Community Relations and appointed Interim Chair of the Industry Council.
