Job Corps Teaches Student That Excellence Begins At Home

(JACKSONVILLE, Florida) Jacksonville Job Corps Center elected its first female SGA President in 5 years.  Ms. Drucilla Young, a 25 year old Jacksonville native is attending the Jacksonville Job Corps Center to become a Certified Nursing Assistant.  Drucilla received her high school diploma from Andrew Jackson High School and decided to attend the Job Corps to seek certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant.   Ms. Young’s plan is to become a Registered Nurse.

Local attorney and friend of Job Corps LaFonda Gipson swore the officers of the Student Government Association into office.  She encouraged them to be positive examples for those aspire to be like them.  Attorney Gipson owner of Lafonda Gibson Middleton Law Firm is a proud supporter of Job Corps and frequently assist the center with student activities.

Mr. Kenderson Hill is the Center Director at the Jacksonville Job Corps Center and is extremely proud of the newly elected student government officers.  Other officers sworn in were Innes Kemp, Tanisha Leonard, Clema Newby, Kenneth Hosner, Joseph Kelly, Kanishia Smith, Tiea Trowbridge and Chris Turner.

Jacksonville Job Corps center trains about 525 students per year.  The young men and women study to become: carpenters, electricians, certified nurse assistants, office administrators, pharmacy, Computer and HVAC technicians and other professionals. The center’s top priority is to teach eligible young people the skills they need to become employable and to help place them into meaningful careers.   It is self evident that Job Corps works…..and it works for our community.
