Students from the Jacksonville Job Corps Center participated with First Baptist of Oakland in their annual Youth Empowerment Back to School Celebration. The students were involved 2 of the four days that the celebration took place. On Friday August 19th JJC students volunteered for 4 hours at Matthew W. Gilbert Middle School where students had the privilege of being inspired by Florida State Senator Tony Hill, Fla. State Representative Reginald Fullwood and School Board Member Paula Wright,
The officials encourgaed students to stay in school and strive to be the best. JJC students assisted with welcoming students to the event, directing them to designated classrooms and packing backpacks with school supplies. On August 20th JJC students volunteered at Metro Park for the second phase of the back to school 2 day event. The students assisted with setting up, cleaning up and breakdown tables and chairs. This event was an awesome success for everyone involved.
