Several female students volunteered to participate in the first annual “Fit For Life” campaign. Ms. Gertrude Peele, one of the Cluster Leaders representing the National Council of Negro Women for the National Institute of Child Health and Development served as the host. The day consisted of students passing out water to 100 women dressed in white walking in the name of reducing childhood obesity. The walk started at 8:30 a.m. as supporters walked for 2 hours to bring attention to cause.
After the walk participants gathered at the Reed Educational Campus to dine and dialogue with national and local health professionals. The experience for the students was overwhelming as they assisted and fellow-shipped with supporters.
