Jacksonville Job Corps Students Volunteer and Participate in the City of Jacksonville’s 911 Celebration
Students participated in the National event by leading the audience with the pledge of allegiance. Students
Thomas Pinkney Drucilla Young, Dondray Hopkins, Brandon Williams, Ruth Ann Foster, Tanisha Leonard, Zyleme Hyala, Tamar Smith, Daniel Joyce, Clema Newby and Kanishia Smith stood proud to represent JJC.
Volunteers from the Jacksonville Job Corps Center along with other volunteers worked feverishly to stuff over 1000 bags of food items for the needy on this memorable 911 Day of Celebration. Students began at 8:30 a.m. and worked until the official program began at 11:00 a.m. The program included recognition for the first coast responders, members of the Navy, United States Coast Guard, the Florida Air National Guard, United States Coast Guard, representatives from Congresswoman Corrine Brown’s Office, Mayor Alvin Brown’s Office, Florida State Senator Audrey Gibson and many members of the audience. The first responders were treated to a pancake breakfast and other amenities. Students relaxed after the event by posing with the Center Director-Mr. Kenderson Hill.
