On May 14 the Jacksonville Job Corps Center participated in the Northside Relay For Life Campaign that was held at Paxon School of Advanced Studies in Jacksonville, Fl. Relay for Life is one of the signature programs of the American Cancer Society; there are 27 relays held over a 3 month period. Participants are asked to form a team and raise funds to support services and research in the fight against cancer.
Students and staff went out on May 14th to walk for cancer, in-spite of the pouring rain and high winds, the students remained vigilante in their efforts to be active participants. Once the event move inside to the gymnasium the students helped all the teams set up and continue the 18 hours event. The fundraising goal will continue through June 15, 2011.
