Jacksonville Job Corps Center Hosted Yearend Joint Community Council Meeting
The Jacksonville Job Corps Center held its annual Yearend Joint Community Council Meeting on December 12, 2017 at the Jacksonville Job Corps Center. The center has 3 community councils that meet year round to address the needs of the center and the students. The Community Relations Council is composed of community partners focused on providing community resources to assist the students. The Workforce Council assist with employment, employment fairs, WBL opportunities etc. The Academic Council assist with addressing academic partnerships to assist the students with tutoring, updates and enrollment opportunities in Job Corps and community support.
The community partners eagerly participated in the speed interviewing roundtable activity that was a part of the Joint Council Meeting. The students had 3 minutes to sell themselves as a potential candidate for employment. The community partners enjoyed the one on one interaction with the students. The interviewer also provided feedback to the student employees and encourage to continue to work hard and dream big.
The meeting ended with the presentation of appreciation awards to community partners that provided outstanding assistance to the students and the center in the areas of employment, work base learning (internships), class presentations etc. The following community members received the following awards.

Job Corps is a taxpayer-supported education and career technical training program administered by the United States Labor of Department. The program helps 16 to 24 year old men and women improve the quality of their lives through career technical and academic training. The Job Corps program serves about 47,000 students each year at 125 centers across the U.S. and Puerto Rico. The Jacksonville Job Corps Center is currently enrolling student in the program.
