JOB CORPS HONORS

Congratulations to several local companies and organizations for being honored by Jacksonville Jobs Corps for their great work across our community.

The award winners were hailed during the Jobs Corps annual legislative luncheon, which featured U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown as the keynote speaker.

The honorees were:

■ Platinum Business Partner Award: C&S Wholesale Grocers.

■ Gold Business Partner Award: The Blood Alliance.

■ Silver Business Partner Award: Empowered 2.

■ Platinum Community Partner Award: 1-2-1 Financial Services.

■ Gold Community Partner Award: Career Source.

■ Silver Community Relations Award: Jacksonville University’s nursing program.

While we’re at it, let’s also applaud the Jacksonville Job Corps: Each year, it trains more than 400 students and helps them become employable in fields ranging from carpentry and nursing to office administration and heating, ventilating and air-condition technology.
