On April 15th Jacksonville Job Corps students reached out to the Jacksonville community to lend a helping hand to local organizations. Around the nation hundreds of youth participated in this global event to lend their time, energy and goodwill to hundreds of community projects. Jacksonville had students from 4 trades participate in this event, Certified Nursing Assistants, Computer Service Techs, Carpentry and Office Administration.
The Carpentry students built raised flower beds and made benches for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders for their outdoor classroom. The students are able to sit and enjoy their flower and vegetable garden at Richard L. Brown Elementary School.
The CNA volunteers assisted Pinedale Elementary with their FCAT Party, the students worked hard to pass their FCAT and was enjoying a celebration. Our Office Administration and Computer Service Tech students assisted Dignity U Wear, a local company that supplies new clothing to individuals and families all over the country when catastrophes arise. The volunteers assisted with sorting and packing the clothing. Finally, Congresswoman Corrine Brown’s staff invited volunteers to come in and assist as plans were being made for her 19th annual Job and Resource Fair.
The students were excited and happy they were apart of making the Jacksonville community a little better.
