Jacksonville JCC’s Advance Training Students Soar

Since September of 2010 the Jacksonville Job Corps Center has transferred 8 students to the Advance Training Program.  This program is another opportunity offered to students through Job Corps.  The advance training program offers qualified students additional training and certification in the transportation,  computer,  solar, automotive, welding and other Industries.

Last week Isaiah Williams  and Annette Martin departed Jacksonville Job Corps to attend St. Louis and Shriver Job Corps centers to begin their Advance Training in the Transportation Industry (Airline, Amtrak, Barge, etc.).  The program runs 6-9 months.

Additionally,  Ms. Tyeisha Carter  and Terrelle Hollis  left Jacksonville Job Corps to begin the Advance Training.  Ms. Carter has begun her training at the Microsoft Academy at Shriver in Devens, Mass. In January 2011 Mr. Hollis entered the Treasure Island Job Corps Center as part of the inaugural class in Solar Technology.

Ms. Fedline Dorcius entered the TCU program in September 2010, she was the first female to enter the program in the last 3 years from Jacksonville Job Corps. Ms. Dorcius completed the advance training program as of April 2011 and was offered  employment last week at Amtrak.

Mr. LaDarion Pickett entered the Microsoft Academy at Shriver Job Corps in December 2010. Last week he was selected to attend the National Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C.

These students are soaring to unbelievable heights to reach their full potential.  They are shining examples of what Job Corps offers to communities all over the country.
