The Jacksonville Job Corps Center hosted a “Salute to Service” on November 7, 2011. Members of the Job Corps family and members of the overall community were celebrated for their service to this country. A video tribute was provided to remind us of all the lives that have been lost to wars in the name of freedom and the tremendous debt of gratitude that we owe our VETERANS.
Florida State Representative and Special Assistant To The Mayor, Ms. Mia Jones provided the Tribute to the Veterans. To a crowd of over 400 she thanked them for all they’ve given in the name of freedom and reminded them that we will never forget their sacrifice. She told them “the strength of our military lay in their spirit and their strength, you’ve done your duty, you’ve fulfilled your responsibility and we will be forever grateful.”
SGA President Robert Thornton read a poem, “No Freedom is not free”. As he prepared to leave Job Corps and enter the Military it was a special opportunity to take part in the celebration.
Additionally, State Representative Jones delivered words of inspiration to the candidates who are about to step into leadership roles as they prepare for their SGA election.
