A group of students at the Iroquois Job Corps have been given the opportunity to develop a talent most of them didn’t know they had. Artist Barb Gray, an Iroquois Independent Living Advisor and owner of Shawn’s Gate Gallery in Medina, NY started an Art Class with students and has discovered some amazing young talent. The classes actually began this spring after Ms. Gray discovered some of the students doodling on some paper in the dorms. Impressed with their work she gave them each a sketch pad and told them to expand on their doodling. The result has been the formation of a Center art class and a recent art showing at the Community Relations and Center Industrial Council’s quarterly meeting.
