Students and staff of the Iroquois Job Corps Center are gearning up for Make-A-Difference Day with a canned food drive on center for area food pantries. Make-A-Difference Day is an annual event that takes place on the last Saturday in October and is the largest national day of service. It is a day to help others with in communities with volunteer projects such as assisting in soup kitchens, cleaning up parks, the elderly and homeless situations. This year the Iroquois Job Corps Center is answering a call for assistance in area food pantries. With many more families in need of assistance supplies are at a critical level. The Iroquois Job Corps Student Government officers have placed food collection boxes in the dormitories and in each of the center’s office buildings. The canned food collection with take place over the next 4 weeks with a delivery to area food pantries taking place on October 20, 2011.
