Hubert H Humphrey held its Winter Graduation on February 15, 2013. The week kicked off with a spirited pep rally that included a slide show with portraits of each graduate (taken throughout the year by math instructor, Pam Gabriel.)
Seventy students walked in the ceremony. The invocation was offered by Pastor Marty Erikson who serves at Como Park Lutheran Church. Como Park Lutheran’s Foundation has been a generous contributor to SGA’s funding. Two students were featured speakers during the ceremony, Hla Htway and Brandy Tucker. Coming from very different perspectives, each was grateful for the new life opportunity that Job Corps offered them. Brandy, a completer of the nursing program, was offered a full time job on the day before graduation and ended her speech with that announcement. Culinary Arts students worked late evenings the entire week of graduation to prepare a visually striking and delicious spread that was served at the reception.
