Veterans’ Day events at Hubert H Humphrey began with a recognition of service and sacrifice ceremony at Assembly. Recognition included the veterans who work for the center, including Dave MacKenzie, CD; staff and students whose families are or were in the military also stood for recognition. Members of the U.S. Army, the Minnesota National Guard and the Marines attended and were thanked for their service. U.S. Army SFC Travis Torgerson spoke movingly about helping wounded vets to readjust to civilian life careers. He asked everyone to help, not just on Veterans’ Day, but throughout the year. Members of the MN National Guard did the flag-folding ceremony as student Bianca Blair recited the meaning of each fold. Students then presented oversized cards which had designed by the students and been signed by most people on the campus. The three branches of service were available during the day for scheduled student visits. Particularly popular was the 50-foot Army trailer with its array of electronic technology.
