Toys for Tots project

Sometimes good deeds are rewarded! Members of the Salvation Army team came to the Hubert H Humphrey campus to treat the students with a pizza party, T-shirts, backpacks and certificates of recognition for their efforts during the Toys for Tots registration process. The final tally for the whole drive was 13,421 phone applications and 4,379 online applications which resulted in serving 10,161 families and 27,612 children. Among themselves, these Office Administration and Medical Office Support set up informal contests each day to complete registrations. As they processed these, students found that their phone and data entry skills increased, making it an effective WBL project. “I saw a definite improvement and an increased comfort at using the computer,” said Karen Loe, OA instructor. “Not only did they improve, they felt a lot of satisfaction in doing it for such a worthy cause.”
