On Thursday, August 16th, U.S. Senator Al Franken and Saint Paul Mayor Chris Coleman visited Hubert H. Humphrey together. Mayor Coleman has been on campus several times and was a graduation speaker, but this was Senator Franken’s first visit to the center. They visited a Communications class to meet with students learning English and toured the Culinary Arts department, where culinary student Sarah Beal-Rock’s fresh chocolate chip cookies proved irresistible. Jacob Mickelson gave a tour of Culinary Arts to the Senator and Mayor. Next, IUPAT students showed off their most recent painting projects to our visitors and then the Senator and Mayor met the TCU classes in their newly renovated classrooms. There was just time for a group photo before the Senator had to leave.
