Salvation Army Red Kettles

The Salvation Army is getting ready for the kick-off of its Red Kettle annual campaign. In the Minneapolis-St Paul metro area, there will be 2000 bell ringers out with their red kettles during the holidays, hoping to raise $9.8 million locally to support their programs in housing, youth services, rehabilitation, disaster relief and counseling. At the Salvation Army headquarters, thirty Hubert H. Humphrey students were volunteers to help clean and shine the kettles. Students worked assembly-line style, with some students scrubbing the kettles with cleanser, others washing them off and, in the final step, reassembling and sealing them. The students were able to clean almost a thousand kettles for this worthy cause.
