Multicultural celebration

Holá! Hubert H. Humphrey Job Corps Center celebrated the various Latin heritages of its students. The cafeteria served an al fresco buffet of Spanish, Mexican and Puerto Rican dishes. Students and staff gathered in the gymnasium for a program that opened with a flag ceremony representing Mexico, Dominican Republic, Belize, El Salvador, Ecuador, Panama, Spain, Puerto Rico, Chile, Brazil, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Cuba along with the United States. A group of students, who had practiced the Merengé for a month, demonstrated the dance and instructed other students on the dance moves. Other activities included making paper flowers and PRIDE Friendship pins. Outside activities included breaking a piñata filled with Mexican candy and a big soccer game on the fields.
