Nineteen students on work-based learning assignments and twenty-three Job Shadow students from Hubert H Humphrey participated in the Groundhog event. Sites included hospitals, care centers, painting crews, the Minnesota Senate, police headquarters, the Western District police station, the Karen Organization of Minnesota, a non-profit tax preparer and various departments at the Hilton Hotel in Minneapolis. At the Hilton, culinary students were hosted by the Executive Chef, Julian Grainger and office administration students met with Brian Davis, Assistant Director of Front Office Operations. Culinary students toured the banquet and restaurant kitchens with the chef. The office administration students toured the sales offices, banquet rooms, the front desk and the PBX center which handles guest inquiries. All the students learned more about the career pathways at Hilton and the number of advanced career options available. All forty-two students who were part of Job Shadow said that they saw career opportunities that they had not known about.
