On February 2nd, Groundhog Job Shadow Day, HH Humphrey student John Witherspoon and Congresswoman McCullom’s Staff Assistant Meghan Thrasher (pictured) go over the details of his day. John accompanied District Director Josh Straka on his rounds, including a meeting at the Trades and Labor Assembly. A total of 82 Humphrey students participated in Job Shadow events. Sites ranged from a participating in a video edit session at a production company, working with staff at Gilette Children’s Hospital and the Red Cross, joining a brainstorming session for promotional ideas at the AAA baseball team, accompanying a corporate trainer on sales calls and at a teleconference, shadowing the VP for Business Development at a land management company, going to a radio station to sit with the deejay, learning about all the jobs at a printing company, a paint manufacturing facility, restaurant kitchens and much more. Students returned to the center energized by their new knowledge.
