Stephan really did walk five miles to an unfinished school each day. Stephan and his family were Liberian farmers caught in the midst of a long civil war so they left Liberia and came to to Minnesota. Soon after his arrival he enrolled at Hubert H. Humphrey and since his enrollment Stephan has:
- Become a board member of Student Government Association and a member of the Student Ambassador Program
- Earned a Student Volunteer Award
- Completed the Medical Office Support Program
- Earned a high school diploma
- Begun to prepare to go to college
