“My employer told me the Job Corps students I sent him were professional, polite and well-spoken and he’d hire a hundred if he could!” commented Seth Wellnitz, a recruiter from Command Center, during a lunch at Humphrey. Hubert H Humphrey hosted an Employer Appreciation lunch to thank employers for their support of the program. Thirteen employers attended. The Culinary Arts students prepared an elegant meal and CHP, the center’s OACTS partner, prepared small gifts for all attendees. One of the more notable moments at the lunch came during the introductions of the guests. Miranda Feather, a recruiter for APAC who is very interested in hiring our graduates for various customer service positions, introduced herself as an ex-Job Corps graduate. Miranda got her high school diploma and completed Office Occupations at the Boxelder Job Corps in Nemo, South Dakota and then transferred to Humphrey’s TCU program, which she also completed. She is a true believer in the power of Job Corps to change lives.
