Twenty of Hubert H. Humphrey’s HBI and Painting students joined volunteers from the City of Falcon Heights, Medtronic Corporation, Toro Company, Minnesota Vikings football players and the Falcon Heights Elementary School staff and parents to build a new playground at Curtiss Field Park and an outdoor classroom and garden at Falcon Heights Elementary School with KaBoom!, the national non-profit dedicated to bringing play to kids. The weather did not cooperate well as the volunteers worked through rain to complete all the construction tasks. The closing ceremony was held in the elementary school gymnasium to celebrate this demonstration of community support. The young students were quick to respond with their thanks for their new work and play areas and HBI and Painting students got thirty-one enthusiastically drawn thank you cards.
