“Celebrating American cultural Heritage is celebrating the ever-changing diversity of who we are and what it means to be an American,” said Center Director MacKenzie as he welcomed everyone to the Celebration of American Heritage. Each month, HH Humphrey celebrates a different aspect of Cultural Diversity and for December it was our American heritage. The American flag came to the floor and Alexandria Welshons sang America the Beautiful. Mistress of Ceremonies, Shaunte Douglas, led the Pledge of Allegiance and then Amber Cantin delivered a well-researched essay on the meaning of each phrase. Amber Cantin also read her essay on the meanings of the flag’s red, white and blue. Kaleb Stinehart gave a poignant speech on the American Dream and why it’s worth working for and then the troupe ended on a thunderous note with American dance.
