Holá! HH Humphrey celebrated the various Latin heritages of its students on Friday, May 25th. Regular classes were held in the morning and then the cafeteria served an al fresco buffet of Spanish, Mexican and Puerto Rican dishes. Students and staff moved into the gym in the Rec Center for a program that opened with a flag ceremony representing the Latin students’ countries of origin. Mexico, Dominican Republic, Belize, El Salvador, Ecuador, Panama, Spain, Puerto Rico, Chile, Brazil Venezuela, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Cuba and the United States were represented. Students who had been practicing the Merengé for the last month did a demonstration dance and then showed other students how to do it. Other gym activities included making paper flowers and PRIDE Friendship pins. Outside activities included breaking a piñata filled with Mexican candy and a big soccer game on the fields.
