On February 25, 2011, nine students from the Homestead Job Corps Center (HJCC) and Mr. Dwayne Wilson, Career Transition Specialist at HJCC, volunteered at the Economic Development Council (EDC) of South Miami-Dade’s 13th Annual Golf Tournament. The tournament was held at the Palmetto Golf Course in Palmetto Bay, FL. Proceeds from the tournament benefitted the Economic Development Council of South Miami-Dade. Paul Neidhart, Executive Director of the EDC, appreciated the assistance provided by HJCC. “This is the second year in a row that the HJCC students have volunteered to assist us. Their help means a lot to us and we appreciate their professionalism,” stated Neidhart. Wilson stated, “It provides a wonderful opportunity for the students to meet business members active in the community. As a member of the EDC of South Miami-Dade, it is my pleasure to accompany our students on community service projects such as this.” “The EDC has been an incredible resource for networking. Several members of the EDC have become partners with HJCC and provide employment opportunities for our graduates,” added Wilson.
