Hartford, CT. – The Hartford Job Corps Academy will host its 2nd Speed Networking Luncheon at Connecticut’s State Capitol. Speed networking, it turns out, is similar to speed dating, where potential mates meet in a low-pressure environment to chat for a few minutes before rotating to the next seat. The difference is that in speed dating your goal is to narrow down the playing field of possible matches, while the goal of speed networking is simply to add to your network.
The hour-long session, moderated by Brandon McGee, Business Community Liaison, began with groups of ten students sitting at tables with two professionals to discuss career opportunities, barriers they may have faced and the future of their respective fields. The 15-minute rotation will not be a job interview or job fair inquires—they will serve as friendly, informal meetings between students and professionals. Students will make professional contacts they otherwise would not have had in the process. After being introduced to the initial group, students will switch tables and converse with a new set of professionals.
Let’s network!
