Re: Guthrie Job Corps Center
9 November 2011
To the Editor:
One of the most important keys to Guthrie’s economic recovery is the Guthrie Job Corps Center, which partners with our local leaders, community groups and businesses to help young people overcome their challenges and become hard-working, taxpaying members of our community.
Guthrie Job Corps Center is one of 125 centers across the country that serves about 60,000 students each year. Approximately 86% of graduates go on to find and keep jobs, pursue higher education or enlist in the military.
Fortunately, our elected officials recognize the important role Job Corps plays.
I appreciate the support of Governor Mary Fallin, Senator Jim Inhofe, Congressmen Frank Lucas, Congressman James Lankford, Representative Jason Murphy and Guthrie Mayor Chuck Burtcher and hope they will continue to work hard to ensure an investment in Job Corps, which helps our young people, boosts our local economy and supports private-sector jobs.
Job Corps works in Oklahoma.
Sincerely,
Evelyn Nephew, Community Leader
