CSD Staff Outreach and Admissions Counselor of Guthrie Job Corps who is Mrs. Oklahoma shared her outreach she did this past Monday. Miss Tyrea Craig, The district Coordinator for Putnam City Schools and the Principle Miss Spate of Tulakes Elementary host a weekly event with the two schools where they focus on bringing professional resources, Character and Self Esteem building activities as well as teach imperative skills to the young girls need that will start to mold them for a successful future. This event here, I focused on career choice (their choice of “crown” or “Hat” in reference to job) and what it will take to stay focused, motivated and encouraged to get to their goals. We talked about the importance of self-motivation and effort along with re-affirming words from their peers that they saw in them (written on their plates) and sent them home with those memories, reflections, skills and seeds planted for them to start making concise decisions daily to help them obtain anything they can dream. This was a creative way to incorporate GJCC. The girls took home lots of fun flair and marketing trinkets as a gift for participation. What a successful and rewarding morning.
