My experience at Guthrie Job Corps has been very transforming. I came here when I was at a very low point in my life. I had no home and I was living out of my car. I ate whatever I could and certainly wasn’t living up to God’s expectations. When I first heard about Job Corps I was skeptical, but thought things could not get any worse than where I was. I enrolled March 23, 2010 and was there for six months. Living with so many girls was hard in the beginning but they have taught me to adapt to other cultures. I have learned patience and better job ethics. I obtained my Certified Nursing Assistant Certification and have been given the opportunity to go to Advanced Training. I am now going to Pennsylvania to get my LPN Certification. Now I will be able to take care of myself with a stable job. After I complete I can move up the career ladder all thanks to Job Corps. They helped me get on my feet and directed me to a better future. Without this “big family” I would be back in Texas struggling to make it. I owe so much of my success to this place and I’m ready for a new start. Amanda Casey
