The Gulfport Job Corps Center celebrated its 2015 Summer Commencement with Mississippi State Representative, District 119, the Honorable Sonya Williams-Barnes as speaker. Ms. Williams-Barnes spoke to the graduates beginning with the Center’s theme “Begin with the End in Mind” and ended with – “Throw Back” as her topic. She congratulated the graduates on their accomplishments and told them to stay focused and “Throw Back” those things in life that are not worth holding on to or those things that keep you from achieving your goals.
The summer 2015 Graduation was one of the Best – the room was filled to capacity leaving standing room only. One of the main highlights of the ceremony was the five minute Student Video presentation which highlighted some to the activities the graduating students were involved in during their time on Center. The Center’s IT specialist Daniel Burton and Career Counselors Layosha Hill and Gregory Vann arranged and produced the video. The event concluded with the graduates, their families along with Center staff and guest enjoying a reception that was beautifully decorated by the graduation committee.
