June is “Women’s Em-powerment Month” at GJCC. Every Wednesday this month the counseling team and PLC will host another event for all female students. These topics include “Healthy Relationships” and “Conflict Management”.  Each day will focus on sister-hood, unity, and appre-ciating each other’s accomplishments and strengths. We started off the month the with “Get Light” which was an activity where students were able to anonymously write things from their past that they feel are holding them back from being successful and placed those into the “Baggage Bag.” This was to alleviate some of the burdens that hold women back from their full potential. Students also wrote inspirational words to each other and were able to take “sisterhood selfies” which will be placed in a frame and hung in the times square area.
