On Friday, August 31, 2012, Glenmont Job Corps Academy in conjunction with the American Red Cross hosted a successful blood drive.
Led by Medical Office Support Instructor Patricia Stewart and the MOS classes, the blood drive collected 29 units of blood, surpassing their goal of 20 units. “Thanks to the enthusiasm of the students and staff, we had an abundance of donors,” said Stewart. “Some even had to be turned away, but only due to time constraints and the limited amounts the mobile unit can collect on a given day. It was a great response from Glenmont,” she added.
The American Red Cross Northeastern New York Region collects more than 76,000 units of blood each year. This blood is used by hospitals and medical facilities throughout the region to ensure that people have access to a safe and reliable blood supply.
“Glenmont thanks those who gave blood on Friday. The need for blood is constant and their contribution is important,” said Stewart. “I hope our donors felt good about knowing they helped change lives,” she added.
