Glenmont Job Corps Center Hosts First Instant Application Day

instant application day 12-29-15 Ms. Gayle Pausley and her Outreach and Admissions Counselors and Career Transition Specialists planned and executed an Instant Application Day on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 from 10am-4pm.  Ms.Pausley and Ms. Ann Marie Morin, BCL, worked together to get the event advertised on local radio stations and newspapers to draw in those interested in Glenmont Job Corps Center.

This great event happened to fall on the same day as our first major ice and snow storm of the season!   However, the weather did not stop Glenmont Job Corps Center’s dedicated and determined staff from carrying on with the event. Ms. Pausley and her staff decorated the recreation center with blue and white balloons and set up a refreshment center to great the guests. Ms. Caitlin      Hackett, CSIO Supervisor and Mr. Patrick Thomas, Safety and Security Manager helped by shoveling the walkway to the event held in the Recreation Center. Maintenance and Logistics Manager, Mr. David Sokol, made sure the Center vans provided transportation from the Albany Bus Station as soon as the roads were clear.

There was a PowerPoint presentation, tours of our center, tables set up with staff where various aspects of the Job Corps program were discussed one-on-one and where forms could be filled out. The purpose of this event was to give prospective students the opportunity to visit Glenmont Job Corps Center and find out about our programs. If  interested, the prospective students could apply for acceptance into Job Corps the very same day!  Despite  challenging weather, the program was a success, resulting in seven individuals applying to Glenmont Job Corps Center. Thank you to every staff member who worked as a team to make Glenmont’s first Instant Application Day a  success !
