On Saturday, March 12, 2016 students Monica Scott, Dah Kwe, Imari Armstrong, Tara Davis, Elizabeth Ramos and Robyn Hartz all joined together with our Peer Leadership Coordinator Ms. Watts to volunteer at the Capital City Rescue Mission. The goal of the Capital City Rescue Mission is to feed hungry men and women in our community who are homeless. The Capital City Rescue Mission is dedicated to providing services for the whole person: body, mind and spirit in hopes that those who are in need can then return to society as productive citizens. The students at Glenmont Job Corps loved the experience of serving lunch to over 50 men and women.
Student Robyn Hartz stated, “I enjoyed serving lunch. Everyone was very kind and respectful. I look forward to doing it again.” Student Imari Armstrong added,“I was amazed at the cleanliness and the care the staff gave to the men and women. I was interested in the ins and outs of the shelter. My only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer.” Ms. Watts will be taking a group of students to volunteer at the Capitar City Rescue Mission every month to have as many students as possible involved in this great community service.
